Rachel Burgess

Programme coordinator

Overview:
In my previous role as Finance Officer at my local Children's Centre, I participated in a Five to Thrive training course and experienced the motivating approach of KCA. I feel privileged to be working in an organisation that is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and families.

Rachel started her career in retail working in music shops, and then as an Operations Manager/Community Liaison Officer in a large out of town shopping centre in the South West.

A change in career saw her working for a local Sure Start Children’s Centre and Neighbourhood Nursery as Administrator. During this period a local charity formed by Senior Leaders at the Children’s Centre, successfully won a tender to run 7 Children’s Centres across the Stroud area, where she then took on the post of Business Manager for the charity. It was during this employment that she undertook a level 3 diploma in Accounting, and when she first became introduced to KCA and the Five to Thrive knowledge base.

On leaving the Children Centres, she took up the post of Project Co-Ordinator and Finance Officer for KCA in 2017. In her words ’I feel very privileged to be working in an organisation that is passionate about making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children, families and communities. I’m also very fortunate to work with fab colleagues where I continue to learn from them about this transformative knowledge base’

She has recently taken on the role of the Employee representative for KCA’s Employee Owned Trust Board. In her spare time she loves walking with her husband and 2 dogs, listening to music and reading.
