What sort of training is it?

Professionals, parents and carers of children and young people will learn a simple three-step model to respond to the emotions driving children’s challenging behaviour. Through understanding behaviour as communication, participants will develop new skills in supporting healthy problem solving, emotional resilience and improved mental health.

What Will I Learn?

  • How to understand behaviour as communication.
  • How to observe and recognise the emotions that underlie children’s behaviour.
  • How to label emotions accurately to help children make sense of their experience.
  • How to recognise the importance of validating feelings in ways that build trust and emotional safety.
  • How to facilitate healthy problem solving by guiding children to identify solutions and coping strategies.
  • How to embed Emotion Coaching into everyday practice to support a culture of resilience and learning.
