What sort of training is it?
Designed for professionals in leadership, HR, inclusion, workforce development, and service delivery roles, this course explores the science of workplace relationships. Using the Five to Thrive model, participants learn practical strategies to build connection, regulate stress, and strengthen team cohesion—leading to more resilient, collaborative, and effective organisations.
What will I learn?
Strong workplace relationships are the foundation of high-performing teams, fostering creativity, psychological safety, and shared purpose. Yet, in pressurised environments, relationship challenges can trigger disengagement, miscommunication, and burnout. Five to Thrive: The Science of Effective Workplace Relationships equips participants with the knowledge and skills to counter these risks and enhance team effectiveness.
Grounded in the evidence-based Five to Thrive model, this course integrates insights from attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and trauma-informed practice. Participants will explore five essential conditions for human connection—respond, engage, relax, play, and talk—unpacking how these simple yet powerful activities support resilience, belonging, and relationship-centred practice.
Through theory, peer learning, practical scenarios, and structured reflection, the training provides a safe space to reconnect with relational public service. It demonstrates how everyday leadership and collaboration can be strengthened by applying neuroscience-informed strategies for stress regulation, co-regulation, and community resilience.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to identify the foundations of connected relationships, apply relational tools in practice, and explain the impact of adversity on workplace dynamics. The course aligns with Civil Service Success Profiles, particularly in Communicating and Influencing, Working Together, and Developing Self and Others.
Through a blend of theory, peer learning, and structured reflection, the course provides space to reconnect with relational public service and develop strategies to manage stress and co-regulation. Participants will leave with clear, science-informed approaches to foster healthier, more effective relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and communities.
