What is it?

Humans are born to connect and care. Right from our first breath, every human being needs safe connection with people who care about us and can themselves self-regulate – caregivers. Five to Thrive describes the neurobiological sequence of activity that caregivers produce whenever they meet this need for connection in others.

Who finds it useful?

Anyone whose work brings them into contact with people in a state of dysregulation. This includes early years practitioners, health professionals, carers, teachers and anyone working throughout education, social care and the criminal justice system. It also includes leaders and anyone working in corporate services.

What learning does it support?

• Understanding our core human needs and development.

• Noticing and developing skills in relational practice.

• Enhancing practice that supports and promotes secure attachment throughout the life course.

KCA’s models are observations of core human processes, rooted in robust academic research. They help practitioners make the links between their everyday practice and the

underpinning science and are themed around relationships, recovery and resilience. Each model is CPD-accredited and tailored to your context.

It was refreshing to attend a session where the trainer's skill and knowledge were delivered from the head/ heart, not just from reading a word on a screen.

I found everything very useful but the clarity of thinking, and putting what I already knew into words and clear concepts, was outstanding.
