About us
Our story
In 2011, a small group of us started KCA with a simple aim: to support those delivering services to people in times of vulnerability. At the time, the UK was beginning to understand the long-term impact of childhood adversity and trauma, yet austerity policies were stripping away resources from public services. We believed that sharing knowledge about attachment, trauma, and resilience could help rebuild capacity.
We gathered experienced and passionate practitioners to share this knowledge with their peers, using models that enable people to notice and value the difference they make in others’ lives.
Since then, we have met thousands of inspirational people, building resilience together and learning from one another. Emerging research continues to confirm our belief: knowledge sharing strengthens communities and helps them remain resilient, even when resources are stretched.
The collective trauma of Covid-19 highlighted the importance of relationships and human connection. Isolation left behind a legacy of disconnection and fractured communities. Yet we know that communities can heal. Together, we can address the effects of trauma, overcome challenges such as digital addiction, youth mental health struggles, and loneliness, and rebuild connection.
At KCA, we remain committed to playing our part in this shared recovery, helping people reconnect, grow resilience, and make lasting change.
