Heather qualified as a History teacher in 1984. Summer 2021, Heather said goodbye to Hampstead School, London, after 22 years as the Senior Deputy. She has extensive leadership experience, specialising in Mental Health, Safeguarding, Diversity and Inclusion, Leadership Development and HR.
Heather was invited to develop inclusive school leadership and foster recovery in Oslo, Norway, following the racist atrocities of 2011. She has taken part in school study trips to New Orleans, Post Katrina and Washington DC, researching successful inner-city schools.
Recently, Heather led Hampstead School in being the first London school to secure the Wellbeing Awardand roll out. She has recently been a Senior Leader consultant at Copthall School in North-West London, leading the EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) strategy, Safeguarding and Promoting positive mental Health. She led the school in securing pilot school for trauma-informed practise and Trauma-informed practices. In 2023 Heather convened a collaboration of schools' Mental Health and Wellbeing Summit. This comprised workshops and keynote speakers addressing key issues for schools and families.
Heather is a consultant/lecturer at the Tavistock-Portman NHS Trust. She co-wrote and tutors on their Senior Mental Health Leader course.
Heather is a safeguarding lead with the Brilliant Parents charity and linked to this sits on London Borough of Hillingdon's Safer Partnership panel and the Mayor of London's working party developing its strategy for reducing violence, specifically against women and young girls.
